Fiber Halves Young Women’s Breast Cancer Risks In a study of 35,792 women aged between 35 to 69, a high fiber intakes was associated with a significant reduction in the risk of breast cancer amongst pre-menopausal women. No such protective effect was observed in post-menopausal women, however. The researchers calculated that an average daily intake of 30 grams or more of total fiber was associated with a 52 percent lower risk of breast cancer.
